Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) is considered to be the best engineering university in Bangladesh. Every year, thousands of students compete for Undergraduate admission to this university. However, only a limited number of students are allowed to take the admission test.
After the publication of the HSC and equivalent examination results, students have to apply for BUET Admission according to the prescribed conditions and rules. The BUET Admission 2025 process will be conducted in two phases: a preliminary admission test and a main admission test.
Only those who pass the preliminary test will be eligible to participate in the main admission test, which will determine their final selection. Both phases of the admission test will be held on the BUET campus.
BUET Admission Circular 2025
The BUET Admission Circular 2025 is expected to be published on the official website of BUET (www.buet.ac.bd) in January 2025. The admission circular will provide detailed information on various important information such as the number of seats, important dates, eligibility criteria and the application process. The roadmap for BUET Admission 2024-2025 has been mentioned as per the admission circular of the previous year. All information will be updated when the admission circular for the current year is published. BUET admission applicants should regularly check the BUET website for the latest updates to be aware of all important dates and information.
Application Eligibilities
To be eligible for the BUET Admission Test 2024-2025, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Candidates must have completed their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or equivalent examinations from any recognized education board (General, Madrasah, or Technical) in Bangladesh. They must have a minimum GPA of 4.00 out of 5.00 in both SSC and HSC, with a grade point of at least 5.00 in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
- Candidates who have completed their SSC or equivalent examination in 2021 or 2022 and HSC or equivalent examination in 2024 must meet the GPA as mentioned above requirements. Candidates from foreign education boards must have equivalent qualifications as determined by the relevant authorities.
- Candidates who completed their SSC or equivalent in 2020 or 2021 and their HSC or equivalent in 2023 must also meet these requirements, provided they receive their results after March 12, 2024.
- Candidates who completed GCE O-Level after November 2020 and GCE A-Level after November 2023 must have passed their exams according to the specified criteria.
- Candidates who have completed their GCE O-Level and A-Level must meet the following requirements:
- GCE O-Level: At least five subjects, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English, with a minimum grade of B in each subject.
- GCE A-Level: At least three subjects, including Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, with a minimum grade of B in each subject.
- To be considered eligible for the admission test, candidates must have obtained at least 270 out of 400 marks in the GCE A-Level examination in the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
- Only the top 15000 candidates from the preliminary selection based on their HSC/equivalent examination results in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry will be eligible to sit for the admission test.
Candidates meeting these criteria will be allowed to apply for the BUET admission process. Candidates should carefully review the eligibility requirements and ensure that they fulfill all conditions before submitting their applications.
How to Apply
The application process for BUET admission is conducted online. Candidates must follow these steps:
- Online Application: Candidates must visit the official BUET admission portal (https://admission.buet.ac.bd) and complete the application form. All the required details, including personal information and academic records, must be filled in accurately.
- Application Fee Payment: The application fee can be paid through the designated online payment gateways and Mobile Banking. Candidates should ensure they complete the payment within the specified time to finalize their application.
- Submission of Documents: After completing the application form, candidates must submit the necessary documents (if required) according to the Admission Circular guidelines
Eligible Candidates List
A predetermined number of applicants will be given the opportunity to participate in the preliminary examination. The list of eligible candidates will be published based on the results of the applicant's HSC or equivalent examination. BUET will publish a list of qualified candidates who will be able to sit for the admission test. The shortlist will be published on BUET's official website. Students selected for the preliminary examination will have to pay the final application fee within the stipulated date.

Admission Test Date
The BUET admission test will be held in two phases. First, a preliminary examination will be held in MCQ method. Students who pass the preliminary examination will have to participate in the main admission test in written method. The BUET preliminary admission test 2025 will be held on 23 January 2025 (Saturday) in two shifts. The schedule is as follows:
- Shift 1: 'K' and 'Kh' group
Time: 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM - Shift 2: 'K' and 'Kh' group
Time: 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM
The list of eligible candidates for the main admission test will be published on 13 February 2025 (Thursday). The main admission test will be held on 9th March 2025 (Saturday). The schedule is as follows:
- Module A: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry (MCQ and Written)
Time: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM - Module B: Freehand Drawing and Visual-Spatial Intelligence (for Architecture candidates)
Time: 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM
BUET Admit Card Download
After the eligible candidates list for the preliminary admission test is published, candidates must pay the prescribed fee to download the BUET Admit card 2025. Candidates can download the admit card by going to the BUET Admission website and clicking on the "Download Admit Card" link. They need to download the PDF version of their preliminary test admit card and print it on A4 size white paper.
Once the list of eligible candidates for the main admission test is published, candidates will again have to go to the BUET website, click on the "Download Admit Card" link, and download the PDF version of the main admission test admit card. This also needs to be printed on A4-size white paper.
Note: No candidate will be allowed to participate in the preliminary or main admission test without an admit card.
BUET Preliminary Result 2025
After the admission test, BUET will release the list of candidates who have passed the preliminary examination. This list will be available on BUET's official website. Students who pass the preliminary examination will be eligible for the written test.

Written Result
The written examination results will be published by 8 March 2025. The merit list and waiting list can be downloaded from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology website.
Subject Choice
Students who pass the written examination will have to submit their preferences within the stipulated date. Subject preferences can be given by logging in to the BUET Admission website. Instructions in this regard will be published along with the written result.
Final Admission
The list of candidates selected for admission will be published on BUET's official website (www.buet.ac.bd).
After the final selection list is published, candidates must submit the required documents within the stipulated date, which include original academic certificates, health examination reports, and admission fees.
Failure to submit within the stipulated time will result in cancellation of admission eligibility.
As mentioned in the final instructions, candidates must submit all documents to the office of the Chairman of the Admission Committee.
